12 11 Pethangtse From Before And At Everest East Base Camp In Tibet [18 of 37]
As we trekked towards the Everest Kanghsung East Face Base Camp, Pethangtse (6738m) slowly separated itself from the surrounding peaks, looking very much like a perfect pyramid mountain. Pethangtse is sometimes likened to the classic Matterhorn on the Swiss Italian border, with the Shartse Glacier lapping at its feet. The 1921 British Everest Expedition named this mountain after the Pethang Ringmo campsite where the British were camped.
